In-Club News at Fairgrounds Capilano
Challenge leagues are coming: Women’s, men’s and mixed Challenge Leagues are launching in mid-November. Keep an eye out for registration.
Level up with our coaches: There are plenty of great coaching clinics available from the team. Open the Fairgrounds app and tap Clinics, or book an individual lesson.
Book your holiday party at Fairgrounds: Prime November and December dates are filling fast. Our Events Team handles everything, from game formats and scheduling to food, drinks and on-site support, so all you do is pick a date.

Facility Updates
Keeping our courts in great shape: A few updates and reminders as the wet weather arrives…
- Indoor shoes only on the courts: please change out of your outdoor footwear before stepping onto the playing surface. See our House Rules.
- Change your shoes in the lounge: with wet, muddy weather on the way, this keeps the courts as clean and dry as possible.
- New court dividers: coming soon to Courts 2 & 3 and 13 & 14, as we test dividing the coaching courts.
- Cleaner courts: you may have seen the team cleaning the courts this past week, and a new cleaning machine is on order to help us do even more this fall.

Member Spotlight
Meet Elvyna Kerrey! A friend introduced Elvyna to pickleball in 2018. Coming from a tennis and badminton background, she quickly found she preferred pickleball for its faster game.
What does she love about Fairgrounds Capilano? “The people that make the community. I can play a solid two hours, and a bonus is I can go shopping in the mall after my game.” She plays at least five times a week, sometimes seven, and admits it’s hard to keep her off the court.
Elvyna is also on the board of the North Shore Pickleball Club, hosting club events at Fairgrounds three days a week in the winter (and outdoors at Murdo Frazer in the summer). She’s around a 3.5 player, and her favourite spot is near the net, thanks to her fast hands. “Pickleball is such a great sport to keep me active!”
